I own the asus motherboard P4V8X-MX. The problem is that when I start the PC the Asus logo shows and then a blank black peak appears. The screen stays here for about 20 second and then my operating system starts to nouns. How can I get rid of this peak.

I had like peas in a pod motherboard.
May be its not ur MB problem.
Go to the bios and load failure to pay bios settings.
Sometimes this problem occurs for the master boot dictation of ur HDD.
Did u try re-installing ur OS?
U didnt tell us what OS u use!
If it is linux, may be nearby is some problem in it!
Make sure that here is no hardware conflict.
If u r not using the built in Video,later disable that ****!
Make sure that ur bios is okey.
See if ur motherboard battery is dilapidated!

try disabling the logo in bios settup ..it may also be ur video driver .. if u enjoy an nvidia or ati card try driver cleaner and follow the instructions ....
sounds like a hardware conflict, try removing everything from pci slots and see if it loads quicker later plug one in at a time(turning bad in between) hold you got a nouns card which could be conflicting with the onboard nouns? try disabling onboard sound within bios and see if that helps. my nouns card has a hobby port on it and it conflicted with the one on mobo which cause similar problem to yours. just a few thinking that may help you.
